Mark Dodson, professional chef and owner of Michelin starred restaurant, The Masons Arms, Knowstone, Devon, gives his expert opinion on our products.
We were honoured that Mark was willing to give his valuable time to taste test our products and come up with professional tasting notes for our range. We have worked with Mark for a number of years, helping to create his bespoke range of preserves, and we really value his opinion. Mark has come up with some lovely tasting notes and suggested food pairings for our products, which we have added to our website. Thank you very much Mark!
Our particular favourite is his description of our Gooseberry & Elderflower Jam. Having only ever thought to spread it on toast, Mark suggests that it also goes well with Soft Cheese and Smoked Chicken! We cant wait to give these new food pairings a try.
‘Gooseberry & Elderflower Jam: Soft and delicate with a gentle sweetness,
ideal with soft cheese or lightly smoked dishes such as chicken or fish.’

The Masons Arms
The Masons Arms, Knowstone, run by Mark and Sarah Dodson, is a Thirteenth Century, characterful thatched Inn with a beamed bar, lounge, patio and restaurant to the rear, offering log fires and a warm welcome. The Masons has been multi award winning, including the Michelin Guides pub of the year: it was first awarded a Michelin star in 2006, six months after opening which it has retained ever since.
Mark was for twelve years Head Chef of Michel and Alain Rouxs’ Waterside Inn, Bray so it is no surprise that the food is superb and has a modern take on British and French classics with a certain complexity to the cooking. An à la carte menu and seasonal lunchtime specialities are served in relaxed surroundings overlooking the rolling foothills of Exmoor.
We cant recommend it enough! Do take a visit to experience Mark’s amazing cuisine www.masonsarmsdevon.co.uk
