The Highfield Preserves story is of handmade, kitchen table beginnings to an organisation that has grown to a purpose-built premise that can produce over 6,000 jars of product a day whilst still maintaining that handmade and traditional touch. Today, all our preserves are still handmade in small batch sizes to ensure maximum taste.
Highfield Preserves began life in 1984 on the family Aga in the Fraser household in Devon. Since then, founders Jennifer & Ian Fraser have passed the reins to thier son and daughter-in-law, Don & Emma Fraser.
It was in 1994 that Jennifer’s son Don Fraser joined the company as Jennifer and partner Ian Fraser were beginning to wind down and retire. After years of hard work, it wasn’t until 1997 that Highfield Preserves received its first big break, its first high street customer, BHS. It was a big moment for the organisation and gave Don the confidence to grow Highfield Preserves further.
This resulted in a move to purpose built premises which in turn contributed to a number of different Taste of the West awards which subsequently increased exposure to the organisation. More people and organisations would come to Highfield to produce their products or use Highfield’s multi-award winning range.
Highfield produces over 50 different flavours, with many more recipes in our books, many of which have won medals at regional and national competitions, and we’re growing all the time. We produce for some of the biggest department store in Great Britain but some things haven’t changed – such as the commitment to home-cooked quality and the excitement at coming up with fresh ideas and new recipes. Our ethics and commitment to honesty in everything we do will never change.
The Highfield brand is an assurance of the highest quality, whether you are buying the smallest jar or a catering pack for your restaurant. We also understand that you want to use our products in your own label products, or you may need a bespoke range of surprising new recipes. No matter what the situation, if quality and taste are what you’re looking for, then you’re in the right place. You may not know:
- The Fraser family originally came from Scotland and moved to Devon, bringing many traditional recipes with them.
- We started out making products from our own Devon vineyard.
- We’re a proud member of the Taste of the West food group, and have been ever since the organisation was founded.
- We are SALSA accredited and use the latest food technology to ensure quality. But we still make all our own our products by hand, in small batches, using only the very best ingredients.
- Forget Team Sky, Highfield has a cycling team that raises money for charity.
